"Practice any art, music, singing, dancing, acting, drawing, painting, sculpting, poetry, fiction, essays, reportage, no matter how well or badly, not to get money and fame, but to experience becoming, to find out what's inside you, to make your soul grow." - Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.

Thank you

Coming out of the pandemic was a bit like getting off a merry-go-round that was on a roller coaster. The Arts took a sound beating but one thing can be said about People-of-the-Arts: we are a resilient bunch!

One of the shining stars for Preble Players was the Ohio Arts Council (OAC). Created in 1965, it is a state agency whose mission is to “fund and support quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically.” While Preble Players continued to figure out how to “be” after being shut down due to the pandemic, the OAC supported our efforts by offering a $5000.00 grant to cover administrative costs while our administrator and board diligently worked to keep us viable.

Through OAC’s grant, along with support from our donors and ticket revenue, we were able to develop and stage “Holiday Happening,” “Talking With…,” and “On Golden Pond.” We also began pre-planning for September 2023’s production of “Winnie-the-Pooh.” Covering administrative costs helped us to have a broader and more in-depth reach into the community.

We, at Preble Players, thank the Ohio Arts Council for their support. Their website states that they were “created to foster the development of the arts and assist the preservation of Ohio’s cultural heritage.” They have certainly lived up to their mission, vision, and history!
